The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Mechanical Group Lead
Maintain compliance with PSSR, PUWER, and COMAH of site assets
Support the plant maintenance teams
Responsibilities:-
Lead the deployment of maintenance strategies using techniques such as Criticality Assessment, Condition Based Monitoring, Reliability Centred Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance Optimisation to operational plant areas
Ensure site assets are compliant with UK Legislation – PSSR, PUWER, COMAH etc as well as company standards and procedures
Undertake investigations on plant and equipment failures and perform Root Cause Analysis
Use data analytics to propose and execute of projects to improve reliability
Contribute to projects as plant maintenance representative, including ensuring all safety, reliability, legislative, and maintenance engineering aspects are considered for equipment lifecycle
Be the engineering team specialist for mechanical plant equipment supporting codal repairs and maintenance efforts of the plant equipment (vessels, rotating equipment, exchangers, etc) and process piping systems
Be the owner of work scopes, coordinating with all stakeholders and seeing through to completion
Actively participate in HAZOP studies for new product introductions
Provide day to day technical support to plant area team and engineering workshops
Maintain and update the site asset list ensuring timely recommendation of CAPEX replacement and repair
Meet regulatory and customer quality requirements relating to ISO9001, ISO14001 and cGMP as well as site requirements for cross contamination prevention.
Mentor and develop junior members of staff

Core Skills/Competencies:-
Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical Engineering or relevant degree
Chartered Engineer preferred, working towards is acceptable
Experience in chemical manufacturing and mechanical systems including tanks, vessels, and process piping. This should include experience in project execution as well as providing maintenance support to production operations.
Experience working in a COMAH/High Hazard site environment
Experience of specifying equipment in use with high hazard process streams following all correct regulations (eg. PSSR, PED, ASME)
A sound understanding or pressure systems, associated codes and legislation
This position is in a 24/7 manufacturing plant environment and some extended working hours may sometimes be required to complete fast paced shutdown and installation work schedules
