Role Objectives:

Meet site safety standards

To provide a comprehensive analytical service, testing products and raw materials in line with customer demand and business requirements.

Plans and prioritises own work with guidance from QC Manager and assists with planning and prioritisation of analysts work.

Report analytical results accurately and in a timely manner as dictated by QC, production and customer requirements.

Support deviation / OOS investigations as required

Supervision of analytical team to ensure daily schedules are being adhered to and provide technical support with troubleshooting

Seek opportunities for implementing improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery

Assist in coaching and developing of the QC team

Key Accountabilities:

Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met including (but not limited to) workplace organisation, work instructions, risk assessments, and control, COSHH assessments, housekeeping standards in accordance with GLP and GMP.

Supervise a small team of analysts to provide an accurate and timely analytical service to support both production and sales.

Provide training and guidance to junior members of staff.

Manage laboratory support systems (maintenance, calibrations, standards etc) to ensure compliance with GMP regulations.

Ensure the instrument and software ownership programme is managed to provide optimised & compliant instrumentation for all QC Activities

Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment as required.

Monitor and maintain stock levels of reagents and consumables.

Preparation of regulatory documentation, methods, procedures and investigation reports

Initiate, & participate in laboratory investigations.

Provide associated method validation activities, conforming to the relevant regulatory or customer standards.

Participation in internal audits

Undertake any other duties of which the responsibility, skill and experience required fall within a post holder’s expected capability and commensurate with the post holder’s position in the company.

Education/Qualification Required


Chemistry (or very closely aligned subject) degree with experience as an analyst in a fine chemical or pharmaceutical industry role. HPLC and GC experience.
